The bioenergy zone in Hall D has quickly proved to be a major asset for NutriFair in Fredericia – the trade fair for livestock producers. And at the 2019 fair, the theme area also provided the setting for a large-scale bioenergy conference with an international dimension.
The concept has the support of several exhibitors, including Cir-Tech A/S, which sells systems for the separation of slurry and biomass as well as related products.
“It was a really good fair – and of a higher professional level than you normally see. It addressed the knowledge we have regarding biogas, etc., in far greater depth – that’s exciting, and I like the way we’re heading. The future isn’t what we we’ve done, but rather the direction we should go in, what we should do tomorrow,” points out Preben Nissen, director and proprietor.
He believes that the high level of professional expertise, with recognised researchers on the stage, can attract new groups of visitors, while the more product-oriented and practical approach should also continue to hold a prominent place.
“It’s a good combination, and I think it’s the right way to go for NutriFair,” notes the director.
The Skærbæk-based company sold a large system for optimising the biogas yield from straw at this year’s fair, but otherwise direct sales are not the norm – the goal is more to create and nurture contacts.
“The solutions we offer are pretty big, so a couple of years can easily go by from the initial contact to a final agreement. NutriFair is a great forum for flying the flag, showing that you can think out of the box, be innovative and a good partner,” says Preben Nissen.
A lot of interesting visitors
Sønderjysk Tørreindustri A/S has been in the business of supplying feed products to agriculture since 1965. Straw and gas bedding from the Løgumkloster-based company generates an additional yield from biogas of up to 16 and 24 per cent respectively compared to raw straw.
“This was the first time we attended as exhibitors, and we were very satisfied. NutriFair is centrally located in Jutland, and we found that a lot of our customers come there. We could feel that it took a while for visitors to reach Hall D, but there were a lot of interesting people involved with biogas and from the agricultural industry,” says Jesper Lange, son of director Ejnar Lange.
Straw bedding for cows is without doubt the largest business area for Sønderjysk Tørreindustri:
“We estimate that we were visited by the owners of around 5,000 cows – that’s kind of what we use as a yardstick – and we think that’s pretty good for the first year. The visitors are very relevant to us – there are not a lot of hobby farmers looking to buy some bedding for their horse. No disrespect to them, but we’re not really geared up for sales in small quantities in special packaging,” explains Jesper Lange, who fully expects to attend NutriFair again next year.
